THE AMY TREMELLING/FRANCO PANVENO MEMORIAL POINTS RACE HAS A GUARANTEED PAYOUT OF AT LEAST $475

Amy Tremelling
was a lifelong cyclist. Amy started cycling in the stock bike program in Kenosha, and she graduated to Kenosha’s Tuesday Night USCF races. She competed in all national track cycling events from 1991 to 2002. Amy competed and placed well in the 1995 Olympic Festival. Amy also competed internationally in the Netherlands International Track Cup Race, where she took the silver medal in the Points Race. In 2000, Amy rode professionally for the Trek Regional Road Team, and in 2001 and 2002, she rode for Trek Plus Women’s Road Race Team. Amy’s last women’s pro race was the Tour of Kentucky where she won the Pro/1 women’s race.Franco Panveno was a wonderful ambassador for the sport of track racing  and for those of us who race in Northbrook.  His welcoming demeanor shined on every group and across every team at the track.  His friendship extended to many of the racers who call the Ed Rudolph Velodrome their home track and he was loved by us all. Out of respect and love for him, #97 has been permanently retired.

Marianne Kron was a supporter of track racing at Northbrook since the early 1970s and has won numerous state, national, and world masters titles. In addition to collecting her share of trophies, Kron inspired countless Chicago-area women to get into racing. “I once gave Marianne a ‘Paving the Way’ award at a women's dinner,” Francine Haas said. “As a cyclist, she has paved the way for other women to compete. She's earned many accolades in cycling, but she also encourages younger women to get out there and compete and to follow in her footsteps, and beyond! There are no excuses with Marianne and that's the way it should be.” Still passionate about track racing, our recent racers would know Marianne as a frequent Thursday Night spectator often sitting in turn one with other local legends.
